Time For More Training

You've likely heard or seen that the season opening mtb race at Grand Beach has been postponed until May 10.

What does this mean? This means you have a little extra time to get your race license, if you haven't already done so (you'll need to do this if even if you have aspirations to be LA's domestique, Lars). More importantly, this delayed start to the season gives you 10 more days to train for what's now the first mtb race of 2009—race #1 of Olympia's BHP Wednesday night series.

Get all the details here.

Now, get on your bike and ride! You know those FGBC dudes are.

  1. I'm quite looking forward to checking the race results this year to see how you guys do.

Kind of curious, who's actually planning to represent RRR in races this season?

  2. I'm on the road. 2 @ BHP next weekend. I think I'm doing both.

  3. I just registered for the Wednesday night Bur Oak series. I am planning to do most or all of the Muerto series, and a few cup races.

And 'cross. For sure every 'cross race I can.

  4. Road riding I love. Road racing, not so much.

  5. I'm with Brad. I'm hoping to do the Wednesday night series, one or two Manitoba Cup races, and two or three Muerto events. I'd like to do some of the local weeknight road events, but my involvement with Kids of Mud this year means I'm not free to compete.

And cross, or course. Need to justify the purchase...

  6. At the risk of incurring the wrath of others, I want to do the Wed. nite races, I wanna try the 'cross and reserve judgment on racing but definitely interested, and would really like to try some road.

But, here's one no one has thought of, at least not spoken about. I want to do TT, and definitely Team TT. Who's in with me? The last time that occurred a few yrs ago, we didn't even have a fourth. I don't even know if it is going on this yr, but I sure hope so. Assuming (by the lack of talk in this regard) that no one has committed to this, I put this forward as a goal as well. Mike, you in? KK, you in? Who else? We need a fourth for the RED TRAIN (gosh, typing that phrase, in capitals no less, makes me think it will be the headline on the sports section - can't believe there even is one - of the Globe and Mail, or worse yet, the CBC!!!).

So for TT, as KK put it, I need to "justify the purchase", although the warden will do far more justice to it than I will in the next year.

  7. TT is a big goal for me this year again. I'd like to hit them all, and I'd love to see some team effort on the TTT.

  8. If Lars is in for at TTT, then I'll be there too. I'm in. The RRR TTT - maybe not a thing of beauty (unless Jane gets in the mix), but it sounds good.

  9. Lars, I always figured you were compensating for something whenever you went out of your way to dis anything slightly left of center. Your "Red Train" comment says a lot...I'd tell you that the Red Arrow was the Communist Party's elite train back in the good ol' days, but it's obvious you already know that. I'd be honoured to be part of a TTT named after such a important piece of history.

    CCCP or bust, comrade!

  10. Good ole days - yeah, when we knew exactly who the enemy was so that a visionary (who will someday occupy the 5th spot on Mt. Rushmore, mark my words) like the great Ronnie (if I need to expand on that, you're already part of the problem (i.e. cbc/globe and mail, liberals/ndp - note the non-capitals for traitors) instead of the solution), could single-handedly neutralize the threat.
